Frozen banana is what makes a smoothie thick without ice diluting it.
Use culinary-grade matcha. The ceremonial stuff is wasted once there is banana in the glass.

Ingredients
- 1 frozen banana
- 1 tsp matcha powder
- 200ml milk of your choice
- 1 tbsp almond butter
- 1 tbsp hemp or chia seeds
- Pinch sea salt
Method
- 1
Whisk the matcha with two tablespoons of warm water first so it does not clump.
- 2
Blend everything until completely smooth, about 45 seconds.
- 3
Taste and add a date or a spoon of honey only if your banana was underripe.
Notes from the kitchen
- Matcha carries caffeine — roughly a third of a coffee per teaspoon. Not a late-afternoon drink for everyone.
- Add a scoop of plain protein powder to make it a post-training breakfast.
Why we cook it
Blended fruit keeps its fibre; the nut butter and seeds slow the whole thing down so it holds you until lunch.
