The Sunday
Edit

Five things worth knowing for a healthier week.

Art books, pears, a blue glass and a red knit on a sunlit bed

A note from the editors

Sunday is a useful moment to decide what deserves to follow you into the next seven days, and what can stay behind.

This is our edit, not a reset plan: one piece of research worth understanding, one essay worth sitting with, one way to move, one considered purchase and one beauty question answered without theatre. Plus a question we are taking into the week.

01

Know

Your dinner may be keeping time after you have gone to bed

A 4,793-night study paired daily food records with overnight wearable data. The interesting part is not a miracle ingredient. It is the possibility that the overall shape of a day’s eating may travel with us into sleep.

Read

Looking happy is not the same as being happy

This week’s cover story asks when visible wellness became a performance. A useful read for anyone who has ever mistaken a convincing routine, an immaculate kitchen or a well-lit face for proof that life feels good from the inside.

Move

Take the walk that does not improve anything

No weighted vest, pace target or step-count negotiation. Go somewhere interesting, leave enough time to notice it and let movement be transport, pleasure or a way to think. Health does not need to be the stated purpose of every healthy thing.

Buy

The bedside edit, minus the optimisation theatre

A reading light, a glass you like using and bedding that survives real life. We are more interested in objects that make evenings easier than devices that issue a morning verdict.

Beauty

The expensive sunscreen question has a boring answer

Price does not establish better protection. The useful sunscreen is broad-spectrum, correctly applied and pleasant enough that you will use enough of it. Spend more for a finish you genuinely prefer, not for imagined superiority.

06 / Question

What would you still do if nobody could see it?

A useful test for routines, purchases and the parts of wellness that have quietly become performance. Keep the answer private. That may be the point.
